Germany, Third Reich. A Cased Honour Cross of the German Mother in Gold by Robert Hauschild
(Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Latin Cross, the obverse with blue and white enameled arms, with a central black swastika circumscribed by a raised inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“TO THE GERMAN MOTHER”), with sun rays between the quadrants of the cross, the reverse with an etched institution date of “16. DEZEMBER 1939” and a facsimile of the Führer, measuring 37 mm (w) x 47 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux blue leather exterior, the obverse lid with a gold embossed depiction of the decoration, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a maker’s mark of “R. HAUSCHILD, PFORZHEIM”, with a slotted white doeskin medal bed, opening with a functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional magnetic metal hinge, measuring 48 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) x 18 mm (h), in near mint condition.
