Germany, Third Reich. A Lot of Honour Crosses of the German Mother
(Ehrenkreuze der Deutschen Mutter). A lot of three Honour Crosses of the German Mother, including two Gold Grade and one Silver Gradedecorations, each constructed of bronze with gilded and silvered finishing and multi-coloured enamels, all on loops for suspension from period original ribbons, each consisting of a Latin Cross with its arms joined through the quadrants by stylized sun rays, the obverse of each with blue and white enameled arms, with central white enameled discs overlaid by black swastikas, circumscribed by raised inscriptions of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“TO THE GERMAN MOTHER”), the reverse of each bearing an etched institution date of “16. DEZEMBER 1938” and a signature of the Führer, all unmarked and measuring 36 mm (w) x 46 mm (h), one Gold Grade award accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a heavy card stock frame with a faux blue leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt embossed depiction of the award, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former marked marked “R. SOUVAL, WIEN”, with a slotted white felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, measuring 50 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), the Silver Grade Award accompanied by its period original package of issue, constructed of slate-grey paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “EHRENKREUZ DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER ZWEITE STUFE” and a maker’s mark of “DESCHLER & SOHN, MÜNCHEN”, measuring 105 mm (w) x 130 mm (h), the awards demonstrating minor loss of finish and flecking of enamels, in overall near extremely fine condition.
