Germany, DRK. A German Red Cross Honour Badge Star, c.1935
(Ehrenzeichen des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes, Stern des Ehrenzeichen). Instituted 30 January 1934. (1934-1937). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a four-pointed radiant star, overlaid by a white enameled Geneva Cross with a gilt frame, bearing a central black enameled DRK-style German national eagle with feathering highlighted in gilt, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, unmarked, measuring 83.38 mm (w) x 84.90 mm (h), weighing 81.6 grams, some tarnishing of the silver and flecking of the enamels evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
