Germany, DRK. A German Red Cross Honour Medal
(Medaille des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross with its arms joined together through the quadrants by a circular ring, the obverse with red enameled arms overlaid by a central gilded and black enameled German Red Cross- (DRK) style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, with the ring executed in white enamel, the reverse of the cross featuring a pebbled finishand bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS DEUTSCHE ROTE KREUZ” (“FOR SERVICE TO THE GERMAN RED CROSS”), unmarked, measuring 38.29 mm in diameter, weighing 15.6 grams, with moderate chipping visible throughout the enamels, in very fine condition.
