Germany, DRK. An Honour Cross of the German Red Cross, I Class
(Ehrenzeichen des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes, I. Klasse). Instituted 30 January 1934 by Duke Carl Eduard of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. (1934-1937 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, consisting of a Geneva Cross with white enameled arms, the obverse overlaid by a central black enameled DRK-style German national eagle, in turn bearing a DRK insignia, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original shortened length of neck ribbon, unmarked, measuring 53.55 mm (w) x 57.95 mm (h), weighing 38.5 grams, flecking is evident to the enamels of the cross and the suspension loop is missing its neck ribbon ring, in overall better than very fine condition.
