Germany, HJ. A 1939 National Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, Bronze Grade, by A.G. Tham
(Ehrenzeichen Kreissieger im Reichsberufswettkampf 1939). Constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, surrounding a white enameled disc overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cogwheel insert with an enameled HJ insignia, the eagle flanked by a date of “1939” and topped by an inscription of “KREISSIEGER”, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “A.G. THAM, GABLONZ A. N.”, measuring 48.88 mm (w) x 49.10 mm (h), weighing 27.8 grams, with some flecking visible to the enamels in addition to a small chip at the top of the HJ insignia, in very fine condition.
