Germany, Third Reich. A German Social Welfare Decoration, III Class Cross
(Ehrenzeichen für deutsche Volkspflege, Kreuz III. Klasse). Instituted 1 May 1939. (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms, bearing a central black enameled German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, with details highlighted in gilt, unmarked, measuring 39.98 mm (w) x 44.84 mm (h), weighing 18.0 grams (inclusive of ribbon), demonstrating minor flecking and scratching to the enamels and base metal, respectively, in better than very fine condition.
