Germany, Third Reich. A Pair of Honour Crosses of the German Mother, Bronze and Silver Grades
(Ehrenkreuze der Deutschen Mutter). A pair of Honour Crosses of the German Mother, Bronze and Silver Grades, each constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loops for suspension from period original ribbons, each consisting of a Latin Cross with arms joined through the quadrants by stylized sun rays, the obverse of both with blue and white enameled arms, with central white enameled discs bearing black swastikas, circumscribed by inscriptions of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“TO THE GERMAN MOTHER”), the reverse of each etched with an institution date of “16. DEZEMBER 1938” and a signature of the Führer, both unmarked and measuring 36 mm (w) x 46 mm (h), with verdigris visible to the base metal of both and with some chipping evident to the enamel of the Silver Grade decoration, in overall very fine condition.
