Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Geneva Cross with white enameled arms, the obverse bearing a black enameled German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, with feathering highlighted in gilt, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring bearing dual oak leaves, unmarked, measuring 52.35 mm (w) x 56.85 mm (h), weighing 41.9 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded blue satin lid liner, bearing a gilt inscription of “EHRENZEICHEN FÜR DEUTSCHE VOLKSPFLEGE I. STUFE”, with a slotted and depressed blue velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal hinge, the bottom exterior bearing an embossed maker’s mark of “GEBR. GODET, BERLIN”, measuring 80 mm (w) x 130 mm (l) x 28 mm (h), issue consisting with age are evident, including flecking of cross enamels, severing of the case’s hinge cover, loss of the release button for the case’s spring catch, in an overall very fine condition.
