(Ehrenzeichen für deutsche Volkspflege). Instituted 1 May 1939. (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered feinzink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Geneva Cross overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “MEDAILLE FÜR DEUTSCHE VOLKSPFLEGE” (“MEDAL FOR CARE OF THE GERMAN PEOPLE”), unmarked, measuring 38.14 mm in diameter, weighing 16.5 grams, with minor loss of finish evident, a late-war example in near extremely fine condition.
