Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle, II/III Class Cross, by Godet
(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Kreuz II./III. Klasse). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1943-1945 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms joined together through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled backgrounds, the twelve o’clock topped by a ribbed fan suspension with an integral loop connecting to a ring with a period original length of neck ribbon, the loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “21” for Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, alongside a silver content number of “900”, measuring 50.45 mm (w) x 59.15 mm (h), weighing 27.6 grams, with minor flecking of enamels evident, in extremely fine condition.
