Germany, HJ. A 1938 National Trade Competition Regional Victor’s Badge, by Gustav Brehmer
(Ehrenzeichen Gausieger im Reichsberufswettkampf). Constructed of a silvered bronze alloy with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, around a white enameled disc overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cogwheel, in turn bearing a HJ insignia, topped by an inscription of “GAUSIEGER”, flanked by a date of “1938”, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “G. BREHMER, MARKNEUKIRCHEN”, measuring 49.10 mm (w) x 47.10 mm (h), weighing 29.8 grams, with minor flecking of enamels evident, in near extremely fine condition.
