Germany, HJ. A 1938 National Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, Silver Grade, by Gustav Brehmer
(Ehrenzeichen Gausieger im Reichsberufswettkampf 1938). Constructed of silvered tombak with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a white enameled disc set within a circular laurel leaf wreath, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cogwheel topped by an enameled HJ insignia, circumscribed by an inscription of “GAUSIEGER 1938”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “G. BREHMER, MARKNEUKIRCHEN”, measuring 50.12 mm (w) x 47.95 mm (h), weighing 33.6 grams, with minor flecking visible to the enamels and some tarnishing of the reverse of the eagle’s wings, in extremely fine condition.
