Germany, HJ. A 1939 National Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, Bronze Grade, by Ferdinand Wagner
(Ehrenzeichen Kreissieger im Reichsberufswettkampf 1939). Constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath surrounding a white enameled disc, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cogwheel, in turn overlaid by an enameled HJ insignia, the eagle circumscribed by an inscription of “KREISSIEGER 1939”, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “FERD. WAGNER, PFORZHEIM”, measuring 48.72 mm (w) x 48.72 mm (h), weighing 29.3 grams, with some chipping visible to the enamel of the HJ insignia that demonstrates period repair, in better than very fine condition.
