Germany, HJ. A 1939 National Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, Silver Grade, by Gustav Brehmer
(Ehrenzeichen Gausieger im Reichsberufswettkampf 1939). Constructed of silvered tombak with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, surrounding a white enameled disc, overlaid by a silvered German national eagle clutching a cogwheel, in turn bearing an enameled HJ insignia, circumscribed by an inscription of “GAUSIEGER 1939”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “G. BREHMER, MARKNEUKIRCHEN”, measuring 49.07 mm (w) x 46.75 mm (h), weighing 28.5 grams, some chipping is visible to the enamel of the HJ insignia, the enameled disc shows flecking throughout, and moderate loss of silver finish is visible to the obverse of the base metal, in very fine condition.
