Germany, HJ. A Golden Leader’s Sports Badge, by Gustav Brehmer
(Führer-Sportabzeichen der HJ). Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels and magnetic iron, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, overlaid by a Tyr rune, in turn bearing a mobile swastika set within a ring bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR LEISTUNGEN IN DER H.J.” (“FOR MERIT IN THE H.J.”), the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flattened catch, marked “B” indicating a supplementary piece, also marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1/101” for Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen, measuring 39.76 mm (w) x 50.85 mm (h), weighing 37.2 grams, with only slight loss of gilt finish evident to high-contact points, in overall extremely fine condition.
