Germany, HJ. A Leader Sports Badge, by Gustav Brehmer
(Führer-Sportabzeichen der HJ). Instituted 6 May 1938 by Baldur von Schirach. (1938-1944). Constructed of gilded bronze with enamel, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath surrounding a black enameled disc, overlaid by a Tyr rune, in turn bearing a central mobile swastika, within a circular ring bearing an inscription of “FÜR LEISTUNGEN IN DER H.J.” (“FOR MERIT IN THE H.J.”), the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a flattened catch, stamped with an issue number of “12416”, marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1/101” for Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen, measuring 39.80 mm (w) x 50.90 mm (h), weighing 35.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
