Germany, HJ. A Leader Sports Badge, by Gustav Brehmer
(Führer-Sportabzeichen der HJ). Constructed of gilded bronze with enamel, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath surrounding a black enameled disc, overlaid by a Tyr rune, in turn bearing a mobile swastika set within a ring bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR LEISTUNGEN IN DER H.J.” (“FOR MERIT IN THE H.J.”), the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, stamped with a mark of “B” indicating a replacement piece, also marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1/101” for Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen, measuring 39.88 mm (w) x 50.78 mm (h), weighing 34.9 grams, demonstrating minor loss of gilt finish, in near extremely fine condition.
