Germany, HJ. A Golden Leader’s Sports Badge, Ground Found
(Goldene Führer-Sportabzeichen). Instituted 15 May 1938 by Baldur von Schirach. (1938-1943 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, overlaid by a Tyr rune, in turn bearing a mobile swastika and a ring with a raised inscription of “FÜR LEISTUNGEN IN DER HJ” (“FOR PROFICIENCY IN THE HJ”), the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1/101” for Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen, with an engraved letter “B”, measuring 39.58 mm (w) x 50.87 mm (h), weighing 37.0 grams, evidence of corrosion to the obverse, in overall near very fine condition.
