Germany, HJ. A 1938 Regional Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, by Gustav Brehmer
(Ehrenzeichen Kreissieger im Reichsberufswettkampf). Constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, around a white enameled disc bearing an inscription of “KREISSIEGER 1938” (“REGIONAL VICTOR 1938”), overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cogwheel, the latter bearing an enameled HJ insignia, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “G. BREHMER, MARKNEUKIRCHEN”, measuring 49.16 mm (w) x 47.10 mm (h), weighing 28.5 grams, with some flecking of enamels evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
