Germany, HJ. A 1939 HJ Regional Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, by Hermann Aurich
(Ehrenzeichen Kreissieger im Reichsberufswettkampf). Constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of white enameled disk inscribed “KREISSIEGER 1939” (“REGIONAL WINNER 1939”), within a laurel wreath, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cog wheel, in turn bearing a HJ insignia in the form of a red and white enameled diamond with a central black mobile swastika, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “H. Aurich, Dresden A. 16” along with the firm’s logo, measuring 49.33 mm (w) x 47.99 mm (h), weighing 25.9 grams, minor flecking of enamels evident, otherwise in extremely fine condition.
