Germany, SA. A SA Sports Badge for War Wounded, by Werner Redo
(SA Sportabzeichen für Kriegsversehrte). Constructed of bronzed feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a Wolfsangel rune, with a central mobile swastika overlaid by a crossed sword, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and code “M1/100” for Werner Redo, Saarlautern, measuring 47.25 mm (w) x 59.82 mm (h), weighing 24.1 grams, some loss of finish is evident and the lower tip of the pinback has broken off, in overall very fine condition.
