An Award of Honour Cross & Document to Wilhelm Decker

Measuring 21.1 x 14.6 cm / Honour Cross, bronze, 3.7 x 3.7 cm; Date of item: Jan 22nd, 1935 An award of the “Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer” (Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918) to Wilhelm Decker, miner from Groß-Bülten, by the county commissioner. Commonly but incorrectly known as the Hindenburg Cross, as it was established by Field Marshall Paul von Hindenburg. The medal is made up of an Iron Cross with two swords behind it (indicating it was awarded to a front soldier, not a non-combatant). In front of the cross is a laurel wreath with the dates 1914 and 1918 inside.
