Germany, Third Reich. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Non-Combatants, by Deschler & Sohn
(Ehrenkreuz des Weltkriegs 1914/1918 mit Etui). Constructed of blackened magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with central dates “1914-1918”, within an oak leaf wreath, the reverse with a maker’s mark of “D.S.M.” for Deschler & Sohn, München, measuring 38 mm (w) x 42 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of heavy card stock with a faux red leather exterior, the interior with a padded white satin-type lid liner and intact hinge cover, bearing a black inscription of “TREUE UM TREUE” (“FAITHFULNESS TO FAITHFULNESS”) and a facsimile of the signature of Paul von Hindenburg, with a depressed white velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 62 mm (w) x 90 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), also accompanied by a paper insert detailing the particulars of the attributes and pricing of the medal, measuring 220 mm (w) x 139 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
