Germany, VDK. A War Graves Commission (VDK) Medal with Case
(Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge Medaille). Constructed of blackened and gilded bronze, the obverse with a leftward-facing profile of Siegfried Emmo Eulen circumscribed by name, the reverse with five central Latin Crosses, circumscribed by inscription of “MORTUI VIVENTES OBLIGANT” (“THE LIVING ARE OBLIGATED TO THE DEAD”) and “VOLKSBUND DEUTSCHE KRIEGSGRÄBERFÜRSORGE” (“GERMAN WAR GRAVES COMMISSION”), measuring 45 mm in diameter, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of heavy card stock, the exterior with a faux black leather liner, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner, with a depressed black felt medal bed, opening with a functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional magnetic metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 74 mm (w) x 74 mm (l) x 18 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
