Germany, Weimar Republic. A Carl Friedrich Zelter Plaque
(Zelter-Plakette). Constructed of patinated bronze, the obverse with a leftward-facing profile of Carl Friedrich Zelter, topped by name, above an inscription of “DER MINISTER FÜR WISSENSCHAFT, KUNST, UND VOLKSBILDUNG” (“THE MINISTER FOR SCIENCE, ART, AND NATIONAL EDUCATION”), with an additional inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DIE FÖRDERUNG DES CHORGESANGES UND DIE PFLEGE DES DEUTSCHEN VOLKSLIEDES” (“FOR MERIT IN THE FURTHERING OF CHOIR SINGING AND THE CARE OF GERMAN FOLK SONGS”), above a raised depiction of a choir, the reverse missing its attachment hook, unmarked, measuring 108 mm (w) x 157 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
