Germany, Weimar Republic. A 1. Pionier-Bataillon Glass Tankard
(1. Pionier-Bataillon Krug). An extremely well-preserved Reichswehr commemorative tankard. It is constructed of heavy clear glass and features an integrated curved handle. The exterior features a finely-detailed and hand-painted design with a nautical theme, topped by a Stahlhlem, and set within an oak leaf wreath. It is circumscribed by a black inscription of “ZUR BLEIBENDEN ERINNERUNG - UNTFFZ. VEREINIG. 1. (PR.) PION. BATL” (“IN LASTING MEMORY - ASSOCIATION OF 1. (PREUS) PIONIER-BATAILLON”). It is fully unmarked and measures 105 mm in diameter, with a total height of 134 mm. No chips, cracks, or other damage is apparent, and the tankard is in an overall extremely fine condition.
