Germany, Weimar Republic. A Freikorps Oberland Tyrolean Assault Troops Eagle
(Der Tiroler Adler der Sturmkompanie Tirol des Freikorps Oberland). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a detailed Tyrol-style German national eagle executed in red enamels, with a semi-circular green enameled laurel wreath set behind its head, overlaid across the chest by two gilded banners bearing an inscription of “IM KAMPFE FÜR OBERSCHLESIEN” (“IN THE FIGHT FOR UPPER SILESIA”), topped by a suspension loop, unmarked, measuring 41.50 mm (w) x 49.98 mm (h), weighing 14.4 grams, a scarce decoration in extremely fine condition.
