Germany, Weimar Republic. A German Field Honour Badge
(Deutsches-Feld-Ehrenzeichen mit). Constructed of gilded and silvered bronze with enamels, consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star, the obverse with a central leftward-facing German soldier within a gilded and pebbled oval wreath, within a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms, with gilt crossed swords piercing the centre, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, with two visible rivets securing the obverse applique in place, marked with an engraved inscription of “DEUTSCHES FELD-EHRENZEICHEN, HAMBURG 11”, measuring 52.52 mm (w) x 64.00 mm (h), weighing 32.2 grams, in better than very fine condition.
