Germany, Weimar Republic. An Honour Cross of the Prussian Veterans Association, I Class with Case, by Heinrich Timm
(Ehrenkreuz 1. Klasse des Preußischen Landes-Kriegerverbandes mit Etui). Instituted 16 August 1921. (1925-1933 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms highlighted in gilt, with a central medallion bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGERVEREINS-WESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN THE VETERANS ASSOCIATION”), the quadrants joined by gilt plaques bearing the initials of the Prussian Veterans Association, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “HCH. TIMM, BERLIN”, measuring 44.42 mm (w) x 44.14 mm (h), weighing 22.6 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock shell with a marbled blue exterior, the exterior lid bearing a black inscription of “KRIEGERVEREINS-EHRENKREUZ I. KLASSE DES PREUßISCHEN LANDES-KRIEGERVERBANDES”, the interior with a slotted medal bed, unmarked, measuring 74 mm (w) x 74 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
