Germany, Weimar. A Set of Three Commemorative Coins with Case, c.1922

(Porzellanmedaillen). A set of three porcelain coins, including a black-finished round medallion, the obverse with a coat of arms, bearing the dates 1434 1922, the reverse with the date 1562 around the famous gift cup of the Count of Limpurg, circumscribed by the inscription BECHER DER REICHS SCHENKEN VON LIMPURG, measuring 41.11 mm in diameter, and in very fine condition. A similar coin, bearing the same obverse and reverse, constructed of white porcelain, measuring 43.42 mm in diameter, and in very fine condition. A round, white porcelain coin, the obverse bears an image of the Castle Coburg, measuring 44.59 mm in diameter, and in very fine condition. Accompanied by period original presentation case, constructed of tan cardstock, the obverse marked GAILDORF ALTES SCHLOSS (GAILDORF OLD CASTLE), the interior presents a green felt presentation bed for the three coins, the interior lid is lined with paper and marked LIMPURG-GAILDORFER HISTORISCHE STÜCKE 1922 (LIMPURG-GAILDORFER HISTORICAL PIECES 1922), hinge functioning, clasp damaged, measuring 111 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 17 mm (h), and in good condition.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society. His knowledge and passion for history and awards is evident in this meticulously compiled collection that is now available in its entirety for the first time exclusively on eMedals.com.
