Germany, Third Reich. A Medal Bar
(Ordensschnalle). A medal bar featuring three decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Patte with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a raised reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 43.52 mm (w) x 46.65 mm (h), weighing 18.2 grams, minor oxidation evident, in overall better than very fine condition; an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with central wreathed dates “1914-1918”, with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the reverse maker marked “L. NBG.” for L. Christian Lauer, Nuremberg, measuring 37.58 mm (w) x 41.70 mm (h), weighing 14.2 grams, in extremely fine condition; an Anschluss Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a raised NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a central raised date of “13. MÄRZ 1938”, circumscribed by a raised inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), unmarked, measuring 32.30 mm in diameter, weighing 13.7 grams, with some loss of finish evident, in overall better than very fine condition; suspended from a 96 mm-long zink bar with a horizontal pinback and green rayon-blended reverse liner, unmarked, in near extremely fine condition.
