Germany, Wehrmacht. An Albert Order & Heer Long Service Medal Bar with Ribbon Bars
(Ordensschnalle und Bandschnalle). A group of three extensive First and Second War period medal and ribbon bars, the former bearing five decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, measuring 43.65 mm (w) x 47.23 mm (h), with a clasp to the 1939 Iron Cross II Class, Type II, constructed of silvered tombak, consisting of a Wehrmacht-style German national eagle clutching a wreath mobile swastika, above a plaque bearing a date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 20.01 mm (w) x 24.74 mm (h), with both reverse attachment prongs intact, in extremely fine condition; an Albrecht Order, II Class with Swords, consisting of a Latin Cross with white enameled arms, the obverse a central gilt profile of Albrecht III of Saxony on white enameled medallion, surrounded by a ring of blue enamel with a gilt inscription of “ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS” (“ALBERT THE MERCIFUL” with arabesques, the reverse with a central raised Saxon coat of arms on a white enameled medallion, surrounded by a blue enameled ring with an institution date of “1850” and arabesques, with gilt swords piercing the centre, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop connecting to a period original ribbon, the three and nine o’clock arms with a maker’s mark of “SCHARFFENBERG, DRESDEN”, with an additional letter “S” on the six o’clock arm, measuring 34.68 mm (w) x 44.50 mm (h), some flecking of enamels evident, otherwise in near extremely fine condition; an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with central dates “1914-1918” inside of a laurel wreath, with crossed sword piercing the centre, the reverse maker marked “G. & S.”, measuring 37.82 mm (w) x 43.09 mm (h), in extremely fine condition; a 25-Year Wehrmacht Long Service medal, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with clasp, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with a central raised number “25”, unmarked, measuring 40.15 mm (w) x 40.15 mm (h), in extremely fine condition; a 12-Year Wehrmacht Long Service Medal, constructed of gilded magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with clasp, the obverse with a central Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “TREUE DIENSTE IN DER WEHRMACHT” (“FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE WEHRMACHT”), the reverse with a central number “12” inside of an oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 30.13 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition; all set on a 145-mm long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, in extremely fine condition; accompanied by a ribbon bar featuring seven decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross with a 1939 II Type Clasp, an Eastern Front Medal, an Albrecht Order with Swords, an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 with Swords, two Wehrmacht Long Service Awards with Clasps, and a Sudetenland Medal, all set on a 105 mm-long bar with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, in extremely fine condition, and; a small ribbon bar featuring six decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross with a 1939 Type II Clasp, an Albrecht Order with Swords, an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 with Swords, two Wehrmacht Long Service Medals with Clasps, and a Sudetenland Medal, measuring 90 mm in length, in near extremely fine condition.
