What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

Hardcover, embossed insignia of The Royal Scots on the front and back navy blue cloth covers, text on the spine in gold-coloured ink, entitled "The Story of The Royal Scots (The Lothian Regiment) Formerly The First or The Royal Regiment of Foot" by Lawrence Weaver, published by the offices of "Country Life" in London in 1915. It begins with a Preface by The Earl of Rosebery, K.G., K.T., followed by a Table of Contents, a List of Illustrations and an Introduction by the author. The book is divided into twenty chapters: I - The Fighting Scots Abroad, 1421-1632; II - Royal Warrant for Hepburn's regiment, 1633-1636; III - Mingled French and English Service, 1636-1683; IV - The Royal Regiment of Foot and James II, 1684-1689; V - The Regiment's Service Under William III, 1689-1702; VI - Marlborough's Campaigns, 1702-1713; VII - Piping Times of Peace, 1713-1740; VIII - The Spanish Main; The Seven Years War; The 'Forty-Five, 1740-1755; IX - Canada and the West Indies, 1756-1792; X - The Prince of the Great French War, 1793-1799; XI - The Napoleonic War, Egypt, 1801-1803; XII - St. Lucia, West Indies, India, America, 1801-1816; XIII - The Third Battalion in the Peninsula, 1808-1814; XIV - The Crushing of Napoleon, 1815; XV - Forty Years of Little Wars, 1816-1853; XVI - Crimea, 1854-1856; China, 1859-1860; Peace, 1861-1899; XVII - The South African War, 1899-1902; XVIII - Militia, Volunteer, Territorial and Service Battalions; XIX - First Year of the Great War, 1914-1915: France and Flanders; XX - First Year of the Great War, 1915: The Dardanelles. It concludes with four Appendices and a four page Index. The book contains 284 pages, printed in black ink, the text and line drawings on a thick off-white paper stock, one colour plate entitled "Private: The Royal Scots, 1742" placed before the title page, with multiple black and white plates inserted at various intervals throughout the book, printed on a white semi-gloss paper stock, plus two fold-out maps placed before the Index (The Low Countries; The Peninsula) on an cream-coloured paper stock, measuring 150 mm (w) x 235 mm (h) x 37 mm (d). It exhibits soiling and discolouration on the edges of the pages, along with spotting on the inside back covers, the contents of the book unaffected. Fine.
