What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

A First War Pair to 2nd Lieutenant Barker - British War Medal (2. LIEUT. H.S. BARKER); and Victory Medal (2. LIEUT. H.S. BARKER). Naming is officially impressed. Court mounted, cleaned, light contact, near extremely fine. Accompanied by a copies of his Index Card (acknowledging his eligibility for the BWM and VM), six pages from the London Gazette and one page from the Census of England and Wales of 1911. Footnote: Harold Stanley Barker was born in Streatham Hill, Surrey on March 17, 1894, the son of Harold Barker (stock exchange member) and Rosetta NugentBarker. He had two older brothers: Nugent and Guy. During WWI, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant (146547) in the Royal Garrison Artillery, Special Reserve from an Officer Cadet on December 24, 1917 (London Gazette 254, January 3, 1918) and left for the French theatre on March 31, 1918. He is documented as having resided in Chelsea in 1921. During WWII, he was granted a Regular Army Emergency Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery (September 16, 1940; London Gazette 6059, October 18, 1940), appointed as a War Substantive Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery (September 26, 1941) and later, transferred to the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and retaining his rank and seniority (June 10, 1942; London Gazette 1514, April 2, 1943). He died in 1970 in Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, at the age of 76.
