An Extensive Order of Stanislaus Group to the Army Veterinary Corps - Queen's Sudan Medal 1896-1897 (T/7346 SGt. C.M. TAYLOR. A.S.C.); Queen's South Africa Medal 1899-1902, 3 Clasps - CAPE COLONY, TUGELA HEIGHTS, RELIEF OF LADYSMITH (7346. Co SGt  MAJ. C.M. TAYLOR. A.S.C.); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal (Q.M. & CAPT. C.M. TAYLOR.); Victory Medal with MID Oak Leaf Clasp (Q.M. & CAPT. C.M. TAYLOR.); Khedive's Sudan Medal 1896-1908 (7346 Sergt. C.M. TAYLOR A.S.C.); Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, Edward VII (7346 S. SJT: MAJ; C.M. TAYLOR. A.S.C.); and Russia: Order of St. Stanislaus, 3rd Class Breast Badge (gold and enamels, by Eduard of St. Petersburg, weighing 11.3 grams, hallmarked on the loop, Gold marked "56" and hallmarked on the eyelet, marked "BA" and maker marked "EDUARD" in Russian on the reverse, 39 mm). Naming is officially engraved in italic capitals on the the Queen's Sudan and Queen's South Africa Medals, officially impressed on the First World War Pair and the ALSGCM, privately engraved on the Khedive's Sudan Medal, and erased and never re-named on the 1914-15 Star. Un-mounted, original ribbon on the BWM, some with contact marks, cleaned, nearly very fine and better. Accompanied by an Original Photograph of Taylor (black and white faded to a sepia-toned look, illustrating him holding a chain attached to a mule with his right hand and holding a fuse in his open left hand, 89 mm x 139 mm), along with copies of his Medal Rolls confirming his awarding of the Queen's Sudan Medal for the Expedition to Khartoum in 1898, the Khedive's Sudan Medal, the Queen's South Africa Medal with three clasps, his First World War Medals Card, four pages from the London Gazette (confirming his MID and rank changes during the First World War), War Services of Officers of the Army, Page 1609 (confirming his participation in the South African War and the War of 1914-1919) and a page from White Russian Awards confirming his awarding of the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus, 3rd Class Breast Badge.   Footnote: Charles Matthew Taylor served with the Army Service Corps in the Sudan Campaign and participated in the Expedition to Khartoum in 1898. During the South African War (AKA Boer War), he served with the 2nd Company, Army Service Corps and was invalided to England, likely "sick", on June 9, 1900. He was to be Temporary Quartermaster with the honorary rank of Lieutenant, effective February 7, 1915, as mentioned in the Supplement to the London Gazette 29061 of Friday, February 5, 1915, on Saturday, February 6, 1915, page 1289. During the First World War, Taylor entered the French theatre on two occasions: April 16, 1915 and on April 22, 1916, as a Lieutenant with the Army Veterinary Corps. He was a Quartermaster and Honorary Lieutenant and was to be Honorary Captain, effective February 7, 1918, as mentioned in the Fourth Supplement to the London Gazette 30569 of Friday, March 9, 1918, on Tuesday, March 12, 1918, page 3108. Taylor later became Commander-in-Chief in Salonika from October 1918 to March 1919, where he was a Company Sergeant-Major with the 27th Company, Army Service Corps and was Mentioned in Despatches, for "distinguished and gallant services during the period from 1st October, 1918, to the 1st March, 1919.", as mentioned in the Fifth Supplement to the London Gazette 31385 of Tuesday, June 3, 1919, on Thursday, June 5, 1919, page 7215. In addition, he was also awarded the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus, 3rd Class Breast Badge. He relinquished his commission as a Temporary Quartermaster & Captain, on completion of service, retaining his rank, effective September 29, 1920, as mentioned in the Second Supplement to the London Gazette 32670 of Tuesday, April 11, 1922, on Wednesday, April 12, 1922, page 3014.
