What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

1914-15 Star (J. 33719, H.W. WILLIAMSON, SIG. BOY., R.N.); British War Medal (J. 33719 H.W. WILLIAMSON. SIG. R.N.); Victory Medal (J. 33719 H.W. WILLIAMSON. SIG. R.N.); Defence Medal (unnamed); War Medal 1939-1945 (unnamed); and Imperial Service Medal (HAROLD WALKER WILLIAMSON). Naming is officially impressed on the WWI trio and the ISM. Crisp detail, polished, unmounted, light contact, near extremely fine. Accompanied by a copy of his WWI naval service record, three original cardboard shipping containers for the medals and a black and white photograph of Williamson in uniform. Footnote: Harold Walker Williamson was a Signal Boy during WWI, serving with HMS Impregnable and Ganges between 1916 and 1918. Post-war, he was placed at HMS Victory in December 1919, later seeing service with HMS Iron Duke, Queen Elizabeth, King Orry, Dido and Calcutta, as part of the Royal Naval Reserve. In addition, he was recalled for WWII Service. As a member of the civil service, he was awarded his ISM while a Post Office Inspector in Coventry, on April 24, 1951.
