British War Medal (6895T.S. H. HEWITT. TR. R.N.R.); Victory Medal (6895T.S. H. HEWITT. TR. R.N.R.); and Mercantile Marine War Medal (H. HEWITT). Naming is officially impressed on all three, inverted on the MMWM. Court-mounted for display, very dark patina on the BWM, edge nicks, contact marks, the BWM and MMWM with original ribbons, the VM with a replacement ribbon, fine. Accompanied by copies of his Service Records.

Footnote: Herbert Hewitt was born on June 15, 1898, in Gravesend, Kent, England. He enrolled for service with the Royal Naval Reserve on July 3, 1917 and assigned to the shore establishment HMS Vivid. He was transferred to the armed trawler HMS Idaho on November 5, 1917, where he would serve for a little over a year, and upon the ceasing of hostilities, was posted to the shore establishment HMS Boadicea II. The following Spring, he was transferred to the shore establishment HMS Eaglet on April 18, 1919, then assigned to the Mersey-Class trawler HMT George Fenwick on August 10th, followed by a posting to the shore base HMS Pekin at Grimsby on December 31st. Hewitt was discharged upon demobilization on February 3, 1920 at the depot ship Pembroke VII.
