What's a max bid?

Instituted 1899. In silver, full size, rim engraved 3579. PTE. H. FLOWERS. 1/N. STAFF: R., worn on original ribbon partially severed along suspension bar, small edge knocks, lovely patina, in near extremely fine condition.

A Khedive’s Sudan Medal. Instituted February 12 1897. In silver, full size, rim engraved No 3579 PT H. FLOWERS 1. N. STAFF. R., worn on original ribbon partially torn, sewn at the top with HAFIR clasp, edge knocks, darker patina, remains in extremely fine condition.

Footnote: Private H. Flowers is on the medal roll for the Queen’s Sudan Medal for the 1st Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment. He took part in the Dongola Operation in 1896. Flowers is also present on the Sudan Medal 1896 medal roll, noting the entitlement to the Hafir clasp.

 

The Anglo-Egyptian conquest of Sudan occurred from 1896-1899 and was a reconquest of territory lost by the Khedives of Egypt in 1884/85 by the Mahdist War. The British were successful, and Anglo-Egyptian rule was re-established and remained until Sudan’s independence in 1956.
