In silver, engraved in running script "Sergⁿᵗ J. Roberts S.V.C. Spring Meeting. May 1884." on the edge, obverse illustrating a standing male figure in medieval attire at the left, his head facing to the left, holding a bow with his left hand and a quiver with his right hand, dated "1300-1500" at the far left, a standing bearded male figure at the right, his head facing frontward, securing an upright rifle under his right arm, dated "1860" at the far right, reverse inscribed "THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION 1860." within a full-wreath of laurel leaves, the medal with an ornate suspension having been added after the fact as it was originally issued without one, measuring 47.8 mm (w) x 60.5 mm (h) inclusive of its ornate suspension, bruised, edge nicks, contact marks, original period ribbon, near fine.
