Father and Son Eygpt & Great War Grouping

Father's Egypt Pair: Egypt Medal 1882-89, reverse dated 1882, 1 Clasp - TEL-EL-KEBIR (engraved in large capital italics: 2536, DRIV: H. WILTSHIRE, DEPOT/A. R.H.A.) and Khedive's Star, dated 1882, unnamed. Son's WWI Trio: 1914-15 Star (impressed: 1031 PTE. F.W. WILTSHIRE, E. KENT. R.) and British War and Victory Medals (impressed: 19897. SGT. F.W. WILTSHIRE. R.F.C.). All feature crisp detail, dark patinas, very fine. Footnote: This is a father and son grouping belonging to H. Wiltshire and F.W. Wiltshire, respectively. The elder Wiltshire served as a driver with the Royal Horse Artillery during the Egyptian Campaign of 1882. H. Wiltshire was present at the Battle of Tel-el-Kebir, where Arabi Pasha, supported by his mutinous Egyptian troops had fortified his positions in anticipation of a British attack. After an all night march on September 12th, an early morning attack was launched with the Highland Brigade bearing the brunt of the fighting. With supporting cavalry and artillery units, the position was carried and Arabi put to flight. A grateful Khedive, now restored to the throne, had the bronze star presented to all British troops that had served during this campaign. His son, F.W. Wiltshire was serving with the East Kent Regiment (The Buffs) as an Infantryman at the outbreak of the First World War. With the formation of the Royal Flying Corps, forerunner of the Royal Air Force, a selective few from various regiments were picked to form the original units, F.W. Wiltshire being one of them. He eventually rose to the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the WWI Trio, the 1914-15 Star designating him as a Private with the East Kent Regiment when the war began and the BWM and VM designating him as a Sergeant with the Royal Flying Corps when the war had concluded.
