Ryder Richardson, SBStJ, MD, Saxmundham A/N Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve: Order of St. John, Officer (Brother) Breast Badge: silver with black and white enamels, with raised crosses and animals, 38.3 mm; and Service Medal of the Order of St. John: silver, (J. RYDER RICHARDSON, SAXMUNDHAM A/N DIV.), 38.2 mm. Naming on the SMOStJ is engraved in large capitals, inverted, the Breast Badge is un-named. Un-mounted, each with its original ribbon with pinback, intact enamels, light contact, near extremely fine.

Footnote: J. P. R. RICHARDSON, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, Royal College of Physicians of London), Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve was a Temporary Acting Surgeon Lieutenant, to be Temporary Surgeon Lieutenant with seniority, effective September 26, 1948, the announcement appearing in the London Gazette 38431 of Friday, October 15, 1948, page 5447. He was with the RNVR as a Temporary Surgeon Lieutenant, when he was transferred to List II of permanent Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in the rank of Surgeon Lieutenant with seniority, effective January 15, 1949, the announcement appearing in the London Gazette 38949 of Tuesday, June 20, 1950, page 3189. He was with the RNVR as a Surgeon Lieutenant, to be Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander with seniority, effective January 15, 1956, the announcement appearing in the London Gazette 41027 of Tuesday, March 19, 1957, page 1743. Her Majesty's Ministry of Labour Chief Inspector of Factories gave notice that he had appointed Dr. J. P. R. Richardson, to be Factory Doctor under the Factories Act, 1961, for the District of Saxmundham in the County of Suffolk, the announcement appearing in the London Gazette 43320 of Tuesday, May 12, 1964, page 4117. An announcement appeared in The Times of Wednesday, Septemeber 21, 1949, page 7, Issue 51492, that Surgeon Lieutenant John P. Ryder Richardson RNVR, the elder son of Dr. and Mrs. D.W. Ryder Richardson of The Beeches Saxmundham was engaged to be married to Miss E.M. Mosse, the elder daughter of Lieutenant Colonel C.O. Mosse of Bettws-y-Coed and Mrs. Mosse of Rose Cottage, Hindon Wiltshire. Surgeon Lieutenant Commander John P. Ryder Richardson, V.R.D. (Volunteer Reserve Decoration), Royal Naval Reserve was placed on the Retired List, effective September 21, 1976, the announcement appearing in the London Gazette 47036 of Monday, October 11, 1976, on Tuesday, October 12, 1976, page 13762.
