What's a max bid?

A 2nd Midlothian & Peebles Rifle Volunteers Helmet Plate - 1880-1888. An eight pointed star with the top ray removed and replaced with Queen Victoria's Crown. An excellent garland of laurel leaves surrounds a quoit inscribed "2nd MIDLOTHIAN & PEEBLES.R.V." The Cross and the Star of the Order of the Thistle surrounding a quoit inscribed "NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT". Two thistles adorn the bottom of the quoit with St Andrew and the Cross to the non voided centre. The Victorian crown displaces the top ray of the Star. 115x130mm, 3 lugs, extremely fine.
