Multi-piece construction, in silver and brass with blue enamels, obverse illustrating a silver cross with an insignia in the centre bearing the inscription "IN THIS SIGN CONQUER", framed by an oval wreath composed of laurel leaves on the left and oak leaves on the right, the cross surmounted by a King's crown, reverse maker marked "FIRMIN LONDON", measuring 44.5 mm (w) x 67 mm (h), horizontal pinback, intact enamels, extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, wooden-framed, black pebbled exterior, missing the liner on its inside lid, medal bed in navy blue felt and exhibiting a silhouette of the badge, scuffing on the exterior, measuring 66.5 mm (w) x 93.5 mm (h) x 23.5 mm (d), case fair.
