Two-piece construction, in bronze gilt, insignia within the voided area, the surrounding disk inscribed "SOMERSETSHIRE" with crossed laurel branches at the bottom, the base featuring an open-ended wreath of laurel leaves backed by a seven-pointed multi-rayed star and surmounted by the Victorian crown, measuring 106.5 mm (w) x 128.2 mm (h), both lugs intact, the insignia and disk held in place via three of its original four tabs, the fourth one having been lost to time, spotting evident on the obverse, the tip of the central ray on the star point at 3 o'clock slightly dented and undulated, better than very fine.
