In silver, marked "CARRINGTON & Co. LONDON", maker marked "B.H.J.", marked with an anchor (made in Birmingham), hallmarked with the British lion and date marked "r" (1916) on the reverse, measuring 29 mm (w) x 33.5 mm (h), edge nicks, bruised, contact marks, court-mounted with its original ribbon wrapped around a cardboard support, with navy blue felt backer, better than fine.
Footnote: The cape badge was instituted in 1907 and was used until 1950 when the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve (QAILNS(R)) was incorporated into the Queen Alexandra's Royal Territorial Army Nursing Corps (QARTANC). It was worn on the right breast on ward dress for commissioned (qualified) nurses. It was issued through stores to each individual.
