Instituted in 1888. In silver gilt with white enamels, 19 mm (w) x 19.5 mm (h), intact enamels, vertical pinback, original ribbon, extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, maroon simulated leather exterior, the lid trimmed in a gold-coloured wavy pattern along the edge, inside lid in white satin, padded and maker marked "SPINK LONDON", the base with a slotted medal bed in cherry red felt, measuring 49 mm (w) x 83 mm (d) x 26.7 (h), case also extremely fine.
