A Rare 1854 Philips' New Map of the Crimea - Map entitled "PHILIPS' NEW MAP OF THE CRIMEA, WITH MAP OF EUROPE AND VIEW OF SEBASTOPOL", printed in black and olive green inks, featuring a map of the Crimea with the Taurid region to the north and the Kertch Peninsula to the east, surrounded by various bodies of water, including the Black Sea and the Sea of Azof, with various Bays, Seas, Straits and Gulfs identified, along with mountains, rivers, towns and other areas of interest, the scale in miles, bottom right corner with an inset map of Europe illustrating the Crimea in relation to the rest of Europe, bottom left corner with a line drawing of a sweeping panorama featuring Fort Constantine, Fort St. Nicholas and Fort Alexander, map measuring 520 mm x 675 mm, with fold lines. Upper left corner of the map pasted into a white card folder, exterior printed in black ink on an orange field, obverse entitled the same as the map, marked "Liverpool / Published by George Philip and Son. London / William Allan, Aldine Chambers, Paternoster Row. / Edinburgh: Oliver and Boyd. / Dublin: W. Robertson.", dated "1854." and marked "PRICE ONE SHILLING.", reverse advertising other maps in the series available, inscribed "The Seat of War in the East. / Just Published, price One Shilling each, Philips' Map of The Frontier Provinces of Turkey, Russia & Austria, The Black Sea, &c. / Philips' Chart of the North & Baltic Seas / Philips' Chart of the Mediterranean" with other detailed information for each map, folder measuring 110 mm x 163 mm.
