Aluminum, obverse engraved with the Royal Air Force insignia in the raised centre with "ROYAL AIR FORCE" below, engraved in the recessed area above "Never in the Field of Human Conflict was so much owed by so many to so few - Winston Churchill", the name in running script, engraved in the recessed area below "MADE FROM A ROLLS ROYCE "MERLIN" ENGINE PISTON / AS USED IN THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN - AUGUST-OCTOBER 1940", four notches, two on either side, have been added in order to rest a cigarette upon, reverse engraved "MADE IN ENGLAND", 135 mm in diameter, sticker residue evident on the reverse, scattered age surface wear overall, near extremely fine.
