An 1876 Highland Society of Scotland Medal
An 1876 Highland Society of Scotland Medal - Silver, obverse illustrating a seated female upon a dais, a shield with the Scottish coat-of-arms at her feet, using both hands to place laurel wreaths upon the heads of agricultural workers on her left and right, maker marked "18 KIRKWOOD & SON 61" on the dais base, inscribed in Latin "SEMPER ARMIS" (Always Arms) and "NUNC ET INDUSTRIA" (Now and Industry) below, reverse engraved "TO Rob Brownlie CARLUKE For Ayrshire Bull CALDER WATER HEAD, 1876" inside an open-ended wreath of thistles and laurel leaves, surrounded by the inscription "HIGHLAND AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF SCOTLAND" and inscribed "INST. MDCCLXXXIV" below, 35.2 mm, edge nicks, near extremely fine.
